PROGRAMS AVAILABLE:

MARK TWAIN IN MUSIC AND WORDS
An interactive program, this program covers Twain’s life from his childhood in Missouri to his death in Redding, CT.  We talk about his journey to becoming a writer, including his work as a typesetter, steamboat pilot, gold miner, and freelance journalist. It includes short reading from Twain’s works, including The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, The Innocents Abroad, and A Tramp Abroad, and passages from Clara Clemens’ biography My Father, Mark Twain. We perform music he was known to like, including spirituals, popular music, and classical music.

This program conforms to Common Core and State of CT standards for Music, English Language Arts, and Social Studies for grades 5-8. For details, please contact us.

JOHN QUINCY ADAMS
We have adapted our John Quincy Adams program into a 45 minute children's program. Appropriate for grades 3 and up, it includes an overview of JQA's life, most of the music from the adult program, and a comparison of the modern flute with historical flutes.

MUSIC AND INSTRUMENTS OF THE NINETEENTH CENTURY
A high school level program, we show and talk about all of our instruments, both historical and modern. This program brings to life 19th century music and instruments. We will talk about how we became interested in this period, the methods we use to find and arrange music, show the differences between our historic and modern instruments, and play a variety of popular music from the the 19th century. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and interact during the workshop.
